Congressman Price Announces Volunteer Generation Fund Grant to North Carolina
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman David Price announced Friday that the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) awarded a $270,875 Volunteer Generation Fund (VGF) competitive grant to the North Carolina Commission on Volunteerism and Community Service. This VGF grant will support efforts to expand, strengthen, and enhance the capacity of volunteer-based organizations in North Carolina.
“The North Carolina Commission on Volunteerism and Community Service serves a vital role in supporting volunteer capacity in communities across the state,” said Representative David Price. “It is often local volunteer organizations who provide nutritious food, public health services, educational opportunities, and other critical services to their communities, which is especially important as we continue to face the dire impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. It’s for this reason that I recently introduced legislation to expand national service to meet the most pressing challenges confronting our nation. I am pleased that the Volunteer Generation Fund grant will enhance volunteer capacity and programming to respond to the increased demand for services in North Carolina during this time of need.”
Representative Price has a long background uplifting service organizations and recently introduced the Pandemic Response and Opportunity Through National Service Act in his capacity as Co-Chair of the National Service Caucus. This bipartisan legislation would provide a comprehensive, locally-focused strategy to assist our national service infrastructure, including organizations such as AmeriCorps and Senior Corps, in responding to the COVID-19 pandemic.
