Legislative Republicans fought back an anticipated “blue wave” on Tuesday, maintaining control of both houses of the N.C. General Assembly. In the State Senate, Republicans appear to have won a 28-22 majority, while their counterparts in the N.C. House appear to have won at least 67 seats according to the Associated Press.

“For the sixth consecutive election, voters made a clear choice in support of the Republican platform of low taxes, expanded school choice, and large investments in education and teacher pay. The Senate Republican majority will continue to deliver on those promises,” Senate leader Phil Berger, R-Rockingham, said in statement late Tuesday, Nov. 3.

“Voters returning a strong Republican majority to the North Carolina House of Representatives tonight reflects the powerful momentum behind policies that promote economic prosperity, educational achievement, and safety for families, which were put in place by the General Assembly over the last decade,” House Speaker Tim Moore said.   “We will continue to keep these promises to the people of North Carolina and work in a bipartisan way to maintain this new era of success for our great state.”
