Attorney General Josh Stein Urges Cigna and Unified Women’s Healthcare to Maintain Coverage for Patients
(RALEIGH) Attorney General Josh Stein today urged Cigna and Unified Women’s Healthcare (UWH) to reach an agreement so women do not lose access to affordable OB/GYN care.
“This disagreement is hurting women and their babies,” said Attorney General Josh Stein. “I’m urging Cigna and Unified Women’s Healthcare to resolve their dispute and ensure consistent care for hundreds of patients.”
UWH is the largest provider of women’s health care in the state. If Cigna and UWH don’t resolve their contract dispute, hundreds or thousands of women – many of whom are pregnant – will lose access to their in-network doctors.
In his letter, Attorney General Stein notes that “patients should be able to trust that a doctor who is in their network when they begin a course of treatment will remain there.”
