Budd Supports Restoring Veterans Benefits After VA Mismanagement
Washington, D.C. — Today, Senator Ted Budd (R-NC) released a statement after supporting legislation that covers the short-term funding gap in veterans benefits created by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs’ (VA) failure to properly estimate how many dollars were necessary to cover benefits through the fiscal year.
Senator Budd said:
“It is unacceptable that the Biden-Harris administration failed our veterans by jeopardizing their benefits. Congress has solved the immediate issue, but we must also make sure this never happens again. That’s why I’m cosponsoring Senator Dan Sullivan’s Protecting Regular Order for Veterans Act, which requires the VA to submit quarterly, in-person budget reports to Congress. If another budget shortfall occurs, this bill would require VA bureaucrats to forfeit their taxpayer-funded bonuses. I will continue to hold the VA accountable in its duty to provide care for those who served and sacrificed for this nation.”
