Congresswoman Foushee Joins Colleagues in Re-Introducing the Green New Deal Resolution
WASHINGTON, DC - Congresswoman Valerie Foushee (NC-04), joined Senator Ed Markey (D-MA) and Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (NY-14) as they reintroduce the Green New Deal Resolution (GND) at a press conference in front of the U.S. Capitol Building. The lawmakers were joined by fellow members of Congress who cosponsored the Green New Deal and leaders from labor, health, environmental justice, and climate movements.
“I am honored to stand in solidarity with my climate conscious colleagues today as we reintroduce critical climate action legislation to Congress,” said Congresswoman Valerie Foushee. “The Green New Deal seeks to ensure clean air and water for all, reduce – and ultimately eliminate – greenhouse gas emissions, and would transition the United States to clean, renewable energy. This vital legislation is not only crucial for our planet, but it is good for our economy and for humanity as well. The time to act on the climate crisis is long overdue and we are committed to continue fighting for a better, healthier world for current and future generations.”
