Ft. Liberty - Sen. Ben Clark filed the paperwork to run for Lt. Governor and made his candidacy official on Tuesday.

Clark launched his campaign for Lt. Governor in July with a 15-county tour through Western NC. Since then, he has visited more than 90 counties and will complete his 100-county tour of the state on Sunday, December 17, in Johnston County.

“A bright future is ahead of us if we dare to elect forward-looking leaders with a bold vision of a North Carolina that works for everyone,” Clark said. “ If we’re going to break the 12-year stranglehold far-right MAGA Republicans have on the Lt. Governor’s office, it won’t be because Democrats nominated a candidate who can dominate in the elite enclave of Raintree. It will be because we nominated someone who could persuade the working class neighborhoods from Raeford to Roxboro, from Rocky Mount to Rural Hall.”

Clark will celebrate his official candidacy and the completion of his 100-county tour of NC with a reception for supporters and friends at Simple Twist in Garner, NC on December 17, from 1-3pm. The event is free but registration is required.

BACKGROUND

Ben Clark was born at the old Womack hospital at Ft. Liberty (formerly Ft. Bragg) to an Army helicopter pilot and a schoolteacher. A proud Aggie, Ben was in ROTC at NC A&T and commissioned as a 2nd lieutenant in the USAF. After serving 20 years, he retired as a Lt. Col. and returned to Hoke County. For 20 years, he’s worked at Ft. Liberty, training soldiers on the nation’s most sophisticated mission command systems. He served five terms in the NC Senate, representing Hoke and Cumberland counties. In 2024, Ben is running for Lt. Governor - on his own name and his own record.
