NC House Approves Second Installment of Hurricane Relief Legislation
Raleigh, NC – Today the NC House of Representatives approved SB 743, the "Disaster Recovery Act of 2024" in a unanimous vote.
SB 743 is the second installment of the "Disaster Recovery Act of 2024" and allocates $604 million for disaster recovery efforts in western North Carolina. The first installment appropriated $273 million for hurricane recovery.
A few highlights include:
$100 million to local governments in impacted counties
$100 million for water/ wastewater infrastructure
$30 million for mental health services
$10 million for child care facilities
$10 million for child care facilities
North Carolina House Speaker Tim Moore said, "As North Carolina continues to recover from the devastation caused by Helene, the North Carolina House of Representatives remains committed to ensuring the people of Western North Carolina have what they need to rebuild and recover. We stand with our neighbors and will see this recovery through to the end."
