Meadows says he won't run for U.S. Senate in 2022

Former Congressman and current White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows told The News & Observer that he does not plan to run for the U.S. Senate seat currently held by Senator Richard Burr in 2022. Burr has publicly stated that he does not plan to seek re-election.

Lara Trump, a New Hanover County native and the daughter-in-law of President Donald Trump, is publicly flirting with a potential run. Other potential candidates include former Governor Pat McCrory, outgoing Lt. Governor Dan Forest and retiring Congressman Mark Walker.
