Congresswoman Foushee Votes to Keep Federal Government Open

WASHINGTON, DC (February 29, 2024) — Congresswoman Valerie Foushee (NC-04), released the following statement after voting to pass a Continuing Resolution that will extend current Fiscal Year 2023 government funding levels through March 8, 2024, with certain appropriations ending on March 22, 2024.

“Once again, House Republican’s inability to govern has brought us dangerously close to a government shutdown, jeopardizing the livelihoods of hardworking families across the country,” said Congresswoman Valerie Foushee (NC-04). “While I am glad that Congress was able to come to an agreement to avoid an unnecessary government shutdown, continuing to pass short-term funding bills is an unsustainable and inadequate solution for long-term government funding. I look forward to voting on the remaining appropriations bills in the coming weeks to ensure Congress delivers a funding package that meets the needs of the American people.”
