Deborah Ross Statement on Josh Stein’s Election Victory

Raleigh, N.C. – Congresswoman Deborah Ross released the following statement on Attorney General Josh Stein’s decisive victory in North Carolina’s gubernatorial race:

“Congratulations to Attorney General Josh Stein on his historic victory. Josh has spent his career fighting for North Carolinians, and I’ve been proud to call him a partner on many of our state’s most pressing issues – from working for justice for victims of sexual violence to protecting women’s reproductive freedom. I firmly believe he will put North Carolinians first and lead our state with integrity, dedication, and resolve.

“Governor Cooper is leaving behind a tremendous legacy marked by some of the greatest progress our state has seen in decades, including Medicaid expansion and unprecedented, broadly-shared economic growth. Josh is the right person to build upon and solidify this progress.

“This gubernatorial election – as well as other statewide races – were marked by disturbing displays of vitriol by Mark Robinson and other Republican candidates. But North Carolinians made a clear choice in this election – they rejected divisiveness and embraced hope and opportunity.

“Our state is in good hands with Josh Stein at the helm, and I look forward to our continued partnership. I am incredibly hopeful for what this victory signals for the future of North Carolina.”
