WASHINGTON – No Going Back PAC reported about $124,624 in new direct-mail spending tied to North Carolina’s 1st Congressional District, divided evenly between support for Republican Laurie Buckhout and opposition to Democratic Rep. Don Davis.

A 24/48-hour independent-expenditure report filed Oct. 7 with the Federal Election Commission lists $62,312.22 supporting Buckhout and $62,312.22 opposing Davis. Both NC-1 entries identify Storytellers Group LLC as the payee and describe the purpose as direct-mail printing and postage.

Each NC-1 entry lists a Sept. 30 obligation of $62,312.22. The form shows calendar-year-to-date totals of $350,204.72 supporting Buckhout and $412,516.94 opposing Davis.

The committee certified that the expenditures were not made in cooperation with either campaign or a political party. Independent expenditures are outside spending and are separate from money raised or spent by the candidates’ own committees.

Midterm Mondays, which compiles FEC records, listed No Going Back PAC spending through its latest processed entries at $202,261 supporting Buckhout and $214,771 opposing Davis. Its updated page said later 24/48-hour filings were provisional and could be revised, which helps explain why a newly filed raw report may not yet match an aggregated tracker.

The North Carolina State Board of Elections lists Davis, Buckhout and Libertarian Tom Bailey as the general-election candidates for the district. Davis is seeking another term, while Buckhout is challenging him in the Nov. 3 election.

The district has been closely contested: Davis won in 2024 by 1.7 percentage points on earlier district lines, and the current race is rated a toss-up by multiple forecasters.

The new report is later than the outside-spending figures NC Political News covered Sept. 29. It adds obligations disclosed after that article and does not replace or amend the earlier totals reported by other groups.

FEC filings are committee-reported records and can be amended. The Oct. 7 form documents the spending as reported by No Going Back PAC; it does not show coordination by either candidate’s campaign.
