Op-Ed: Cynthia Lee – The Party Is Over – It’s Time To Work!

Dear Editor,

I care deeply about this community and its people so I write to say to the people of Cumberland County, the Party is over – It’s time to work! It doesn’t matter what party the politician is affiliated with, it only matters what the individuals stand for and against.

Most people don’t know how poorly our school system is being run by our Board of Education.  On November 3rd, we have our opportunity to change the dynamics of our Board of Education because there are three at-large seats that are open and need to be filled this election.  I worked as a teacher in Cumberland County for over seven years so I
know and have seen first hand the downfalls.

Over the years the CCS Board of Education has wasted millions of dollars, denied special education services to our disabled students, refused to properly prevent school violence, refused to maintain safe buses and fired people because they have a disability and can’t drive a school bus.

To become more informed, google: DPI finds CCS in violation, CCS fires disabled individuals because they can’t drive a school bus, CCS school bus mechanic quits due to unsafe buses and CCS special education lawsuits.  It is important that everyone knows that two of our present Board members are running for election.  Jackie Brown wants to be re-elected to Cumberland County Board of Education and Greg West wants to be our Cumberland County Commissioner.

These two are part of Cumberland County’s problem.  On November 3rd we need to vote for our solution.  I spoke to these candidates and I like the responses I heard from Board of Education candidates: Broxie Pone, Jonathan Lee, Bryan Moore and Franklin Crockett. In order to improve our schools, we need a solid County Commission.

I believe Ron Ross, Charles Evans, and Veronica Jones are all excellent choices for County Commissioners.

Citizens of Cumberland County, let’s do our research and vote for the person, not the party because, “The Party Is Over – It’s Time To Work”!

Cynthia Lee
