House Republicans once again shut down the deliberative process and gave House Democrats an ultimatum on S49, the Parents Bill of Rights: We could debate the bill or we could offer amendments, but not both. We were informed that the Rules Chairman would call the question and force the body to vote without hearing Democratic amendments.

NC House Speaker Tim Moore said, "Today the United States Supreme Court has determined that state courts may rule on questions of state law even if it has an impact on federal elections law. Ultimately, the question of the role of state courts in congressional redistricting needed to be settled and this decision has done just that. I am proud of the work we did to pursue this case to the nation's highest court."
We hope this law is never used, but unfortunately there are some cases in which it may need to be implemented. Ensuring local governments’ bank books are balanced and taxpayer money is properly accounted for has always been important. With millions of federal dollars flowing through our local governments, that obligation is more important than ever.
