RALEIGH - North Carolina election officials have selected 200 ballot groupings, two in each of the state’s 100 counties, for required hand-count audits of the U.S. Senate contest.
North Carolina’s election night results will remain unofficial while county boards review outstanding ballots and conduct public checks before certifying their totals, the State Board of Elections said in guidance released Tuesday.
The Senate approved an amended election bill that would change early-voting periods, institute recurring county election audits and increase campaign-finance reporting thresholds.
