Yesterday the N.C. Senate passed Senate Bill 173, "Free the Smiles Act." This bill makes masks optional in K-12 schools and early childhood programs on state property, thus giving parents control over the decision to mask their children. The bill passed the Senate 28-17.
"This legislation undermines North Carolina's transition to a clean energy economy that is already bringing in thousands of good paying jobs. It also wrongly strips local authority and hampers public access to information about critical infrastructure that impacts the health and well-being of North Carolinians."
From House Bill 165: “If a salvage vehicle owner wants to keep the vehicle, the insurer must give the owner an owner-retained salvage form. The owner must complete the owner-retained salvage form and give it to the insurer when the insurer pays the claim.”

Gov. Roy Cooper has vetoed a bill designed to block the state attorney general from entering collusive lawsuit settlements. It's Cooper's 11th veto this year and No. 64 since he took office in 2017.
A bill to establish a “regulatory sandbox” by waiving certain obstacles for a trial period for fast-emerging financial and insurance products and services is one step closer to becoming law. It cleared the Senate Commerce and Insurance Committee on Tuesday, Sep. 21.
