Cooper re-elected; Robinson wins Lt. Governor; split decision on Council of State

County-by-county results of the race for N.C. Governor (blue = Cooper, red = Forest)

Republican Mark Robinson was elected Lt. Governor, becoming the first black Republican elected to statewide office in North Carolina.

While some races remain close pending outstanding absentee ballots being counted, voters appeared to render a split decision in other statewide Council of State races.

Republican incumbents won the races for Commissioner of Agriculture (Steve Troxler), Commissioner of Insurance (Mike Causey) and State Treasurer (Dale Folwell), while Democratic incumbent Elaine Marshall was re-elected Secretary of State. Democratic incumbents Josh Stein (Attorney General) and Beth Wood (State Auditor) hold slim leads in their respective races.

Republican Catherine Truitt claimed the open Superintendent of Public Instruction seat, while Republican Josh Dobson holds a slim lead in the race for the open Commissioner of Labor seat.
