RALEIGH — On Friday, the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services further expanded the demographic data for North Carolina COVID-19 cases on the NC COVID-19 Dashboard. Demographic data for COVID-19 cases per 100,000 residents and total deaths by week are available by age group, gender, race and ethnicity for the state. In addition, demographic data on deaths is available by county.
The new information will be displayed on the Case Demographics page on the dashboard and will be updated weekly on Mondays. Demographic data previously shown on the Cases page will be displayed on the Cases Demographics page going forward.
Demographic information is not available for all cases since some people cannot be reached or may choose not to disclose this information. Because demographic data are often obtained through case investigations by local health departments, there can be a lag in when the data are available. Therefore, data displayed for the most recent two-week period are often incomplete.
When a county has a population of fewer than 500 individuals for a specific demographic group or fewer than three cases occurring in a week, some data are suppressed to protect patient privacy.
NCDHHS is also expanding data available in downloadable format on the About the Data page. Demographic data on cases by week will be available by county, and data on personal protective equipment will also be available.
