The NC House Speaker Tim Moore released the following statement Gov. Cooper's intent to veto SB 747, "Elections Law Changes."
State House Speaker Tim Moore (R-Cleveland) responded Wednesday to Governor Cooper modifying certain restrictions on businesses and gatherings in North Carolina. "North Carolina has lagged behind most of our neighboring states when it comes to reopening. I am glad the Governor has taken this step and the General Assembly will continue to advocate for safely reopening schools and the economy."
On Wednesday, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit reversed a lower-court decision to enjoin North Carolina’s voter ID law and constitutional amendment. "Now that a federal appeals court has approved North Carolina's voter ID law and constitutional amendment, they must be implemented for the next election cycle in our state," NC House Speaker Tim Moore (R-Cleveland) said.
