The biennium State budget, SB 105 / S.L. 2021-180, for fiscal-years 2021-2023 is now law following a strong bipartisan vote last week, 41-7 and 104-10, in the State Senate and State House, respectfully.

USDA disaster declarations granted for eighteen western North Carolina counties to support recovery following Tropical Storm Fred
United States Department of Agriculture Secretary Thomas Vilsack has granted North Carolina’s request for a primary county disaster designation for twelve North Carolina counties following excessive rain and flooding from Tropical Storm Fred that occurred from August 15 through August 17, 2021. Six additional counties were also named as contiguous disaster counties.
Not enough Extra Credit grants got to low-income families, audit says
Gov. Roy Cooper’s Department of Revenue did not do enough to get “Extra Credit” grants to low-income families eligible for them, a new audit finds.
