Growing up and proudly calling the Tar Heel state home, I have witnessed the rapid expansion of our tech industry. Tech companies, large and small, and ambitious app developers have flocked from across the country to Charlotte and Raleigh, helping secure North Carolina as one of the top states for business.

When it comes to our business climate and economic prospects, North Carolinians are used to receiving accolades. Let’s add another to the list. The Cato Institute just released a study of regulatory barriers facing entrepreneurs. North Carolina fared well in the analysis, ranking 12th-best in the nation.

Golden LEAF Board awards $2.4M in funding

On Thursday, the Golden LEAF Board of Directors awarded more than $2.4 million in funding to support agriculture, economic development, entrepreneurship, capacity building, and disaster recovery through projects across North Carolina. The Board also heard from its strategic planning consultants on the results of outreach and data gathering efforts launched over the summer. The Board is expected to adopt a strategic plan in the first quarter of 2021.
