North Carolina Turnpike authority receives two awards from prestigious Government Finance Officers Association
RALEIGH – The North Carolina Turnpike Authority (NCTA) is pleased to announce it has received two awards from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) in Chicago, IL.
NCTA is honored that GFOA awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for its comprehensive annual financial report for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2020. This is the first time NCTA has applied for the award. The report has been judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, which includes demonstrating a constructive "spirit of full disclosure" to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the report.
James “JJ” Eden, Executive Director, North Carolina Turnpike Authority, said, “The Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting is the highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting. This is a significant accomplishment by NCTA and its management.”
In addition, NCTA was presented with GFOA’s Distinguished Budget Presentation Award. The award reflects NCTA’s commitment to meeting the highest principles of governmental budgeting. NCTA met nationally recognized guidelines in four categories -- policy documentation, financial planning, operations and communications as well as addressing 14 criteria to achieve effective budget presentation.
“NCTA and its Finance Department deserve the credit for leading and documenting our financial statements and records,” said NCTA Board Secretary and Treasurer, Robert D. Teer, Jr. As a public entity, we take our responsibility to act and serve in a transparent manner very seriously.”
